Induction of New Member
Amy Mutal introduced Kay Griffith and inducted her into our Club.  While growing up, Kay’s family did printing for our Club so she is familiar with some of our activities.  Amy agreed to be Kay’s mentor.  Welcome Kay and we look forward to working with you on the many projects at our Club.
Banner Exchange
President Steve introduced Andre’ Smaal from the Netherlands and they exchanged Club banners.  Andre’ has been a Rotarian for 3 years, his Dad was a Rotarian, and he was a Youth Exchange Student.  One of our members took his picture and Andre’ will send it to his Club as proof that he made up a meeting and kept perfect attendance while traveling!
Program
Barbara Posthumus from the Lake Washington School  District (LWSD) gave us an overview and lots of details on the February 13 Bond and Levy Measures.
The school district has seen a substantial increase in the number of students since 2008 and now the total is 29,572 students.  Student numbers will continue to increase with the Seattle economy continuing to grow.
The February 13 Ballot will encompass three (3) measures:  A Bond, Capital Projects Levy, and Educational Programs & Operations Levy
The total LWSD Tax Rate for all three measures will be $2.93 per thousand AV, which is a decrease from $3.16 per thousand AV.
Thanks, Barbara, for an informative and detailed presentation.  Our members appreciate the update and I am sure we will do our duty and vote.
Adjournment
President Steve adjourned the meeting at 7:30 PM with his usual humorous comment.
