President Patty called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and Rick Walter, Camera #15, led the Flag Salute and John Woodberry was Greeter.

Visiting Rotarians included Scott East and our own Bob Norman. Mike Hunter introduced our Student of the Month, Nicole Shriver, from Lake Washington High School

  • Bill Taylor announced that Jason Bruner is recovering from Cushing’s Syndrome and that there is a get well card being passed around. Jason, we hope you’re recovery is quick and absolute!
  • Pat Dye announced that the Duck Dash Kick-Off Party will be held in the Tent, at The Woodmark, June 10th, at 5:30 p.m. and will include a No-Host Bar.

  • Dan Bartell thanked the Student of the Month Committee, Carl Boruck, Anne Hamilton, Jim Going, Diana Lanspa and Scott Becker, and its fearless leaders, Mike Hunter and Elizabeth Rusnak.

  • Miracle League is happening again this Saturday at 9:30 at Perrigo Park. Neil Johnson is asking for about 7 more volunteers. He brought out many Evergreen Healthcare volunteers and covered the shortage, last week. Great Job, Neil!

  • Scott Rethke announced that we will be having Club Assembly in two weeks and has requested that Rotarians send suggestions for topics to be discussed.

  • Rick Walter, Camera #15, collected a generous donation of Happy Dollars, including $51 and a couple of stories from John Woodberry celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary! Congratulations, John!

  • Pat Swenson could not attend 10 Grands so she was kind enough to donate them to a needy sole who would like to attend but did not have tickets. Bob Webb was the luck recipient!  

 

Jim going introduced our speaker, Rich Dewey, who grew up next door to Jim and is a UCLA Grad. His first job was a sports anchor in Lewiston, ID, in a 4-person office. He is now in his 20th season with FOX Sports and broadcast NFL games for 17 years.  He is now Director of FOX College Football and has won 5 Regional Emmys and 1 National Emmy. Jim, of course, takes credit for rich’s success, having grown up with him and being a mentor.  Rich Gave us an idea of how complicated his job is and that of his cameramen by handing out respective  duty-rosters to 15 Rotarians, representing 15 cameras. Rick Walter was Camera #15 and did an excellent job filming the cheerleaders the entire night!
