President Scott called the SCHOLARSHIP NIGHT meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

Your scribe was allowed to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Ernie Norehad provided an unusually brief but very sophisticated inspirational moment.

VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS  With this being Scholarship Night we had many guests including the very impressive scholarship recipients, their parents and several friends and even a couple proud teachers.

PROGRAM
James Nevers, our chair of Vocational Service, chaired the celebration of Scholarship Night.  His committee who interviewed applicants included Jason Overleese, Anne Hamilton, Joanne Primavera, Brandon Honcoop, and Elizabeth Rusnak.  Each member introduced the scholarship recipient he or she interviewed.  All were very impressed with this outstanding group of 2017.  They were:
Caitlin Parra  -  Emerson High School
Isabella Forcino  -  Juanita High School
Gavin Vodopich  -  Juanita High School
Grace Fleming  -  Juanita High School
Selena Johnson  -  Lake Washington Technical Academy
Morgan Livingston  -  Lake Washington Institute of Technology
Dereje Mekuria  -  Lake Wasington Institute of Technology
Alina Nguyen  -  Lake Washington High School
Chuck E Morgan Memorial Scholarship  -  Jorge Azpeitia  -  Juanita High School

Chuck Morgan was sometime called "Mr. Kirkland".  He was the editor and founder (I think) of Kirkland's Eastside Journal, and a Kirkland Rotarian for many years, thus we have a special scholarship in his name.  He passed away in 2009 at the age of 98.

President Scott announced there will be an opportunity to help the "Books for the World" program in the next couple weeks.  He thanked  all for coming and those greeting us all, working the desk, etc.  The meeting was adjourned about 7:20.

 Respectfully submitted         Bob Webb
