Rummage Sale Committee
The Rotary Club of Kirkland membership formally approved on January 30, 2022 to move from annually sponsoring the Great Puget Sound Duck Dash to sponsoring an annual rummage sale as the club's major fundraising project. The first rummage sale was in the summer of 2023, during the month of July. Kamiakin Middle School was the venue for the project, which was fashioned after the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island Annual Auction & Rummage Sale. The fundraising committee became the Rummage Sale Steering Committee in 2023-2024. The Steering Committee became the coordinating team after the second sale, and is working on the third annual event tentatively scheduled for June 28-29, 2025. Club members and others may volunteer to aid the success of the project through several sub-committees, or working teams, as approved by the board of directors. Each is described below. Coordinating Team
This team's responsible for general logistics including school reservation, tables, dumpsters, dollies and other supplies, volunteer refreshments, running the sale days, and intra team coordination.
Marketing Team
This team's responsible for outbound marketing including yard signs, posters, social media posts, marketing blitz, and displaying signage at the school during drop off and sale hours.
Donations Team
This team's responsible for incoming donations including deciding what to accept or reject, light cleaning on donated items, electronics testing (if accepted), and throwing away garbage donations before they move to pricing.
Pricing Team
This team's responsible for producing a pricing guide and pricing all items received from donations team.
Stocking Team
This team's responsible for organizing and displaying items received from pricing team on the sale floor. Sets out and organizes tables and bleachers and displays appropriate department signage.
Cashier Team
This team's responsible for managing necessary equipment for cash and card purchases, as well as recruiting and training cashiers.
