Kirkland Rotary Step Scholarship

This Step Scholarship is sponsored by Russ & Tricia Stromberg.  This scholarship is an award of $1,500.  Up to two “Kirkland Rotary Step Scholarships” may be awarded in 2021: one for a first-time applicant and one for a prior recipient.  The eligibility criteria for a first-time recipient are:
  • Financial need (demonstrated through a valid USED Student Aid Report [SAR]);
  • Academic promise (demonstrated through the transcript and letter of recommendation);
  • Record of school or community service, especially leadership, and promise of societal contribution (demonstrated through the essay and letter of recommendation);
  • Current enrollment as a senior at Lake Washington High School; and
  • Plans to attend an accredited higher education institution in the United States.
The eligibility criteria for a follow-on second scholarship are: 
  • Recipient of a Kirkland Rotary Step Scholarship in a prior year;
  • Financial need (demonstrated through a valid USED Student Aid Report [SAR]);
  • Academic promise (demonstrated through the transcript and proof of Satisfactory Academic Progress under USED rules as applied at the post-secondary institution in which the Step recipient was enrolled for the prior Step Scholarship); and
  • Continuation of full-time* attendance at an accredited higher education institution in the United States (*as defined in the institution’s financial aid policy).
