Managing a major commercial fishery from Kirkland
Kristian Uri will describe the current operations of one the largest woman-owned commercial fishing companies, the operations of which focus on Alaskan waters.  Fishermen's Finest is a respected, independent American fishing company that harvests and processes groundfish in the North Pacific and Bering Sea.  Their outstanding crews, exceptional fishing vessels, and dedicated employees work together to produce the highest quality fish products available; products that demand top dollar in the global marketplace.  Operational excellence, uncompromising quality, and a strong commitment to stewardship and sustainable fishery resource management have made the company a leader in the field.  Their head and gut (H&G) catcher-processors, the F/V America’s Finest, the F/V American No. 1, and the F/V U.S. Intrepid operate nearly 10 months out of the year (January-October).  The firm sells only bulk, wholesale, container-load sized quantities of seafood products produced aboard their vessels.

Kristian Uri is the general manager for Fishermen’s Finest.  His duties include all aspects of owning and operating factory trawlers.  He oversees company operations as Chief  Vessel Officer, personnel, vessel insurance administration, Corporate Travel Department (Travel Director and ARC Specialist) and other associated duties.  Mr. Uri has been with Fishermen’s Finest since 1997, and has spent a great deal of his life at sea off Alaska as a fish processor, deckhand, and winch driver aboard crab fishing vessels and factory trawlers.
