The International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians
The International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians (IFFR) is a worldwide group of Rotarians dedicated to promoting Rotary and aviation as an opportunity for fellowship and service. The Fellowship operates in accordance with Rotary International policy, but is not an agency of, or controlled by Rotary International. The IFFR is divided into three Regions – Australia/Asia, Europe/Africa, and The Americas.

Many IFFR members use their personal airplanes to provide free air transportation for non-emergency medical and other compelling needs.  Additionally, events promoting fellowship are held in nearly all the countries in which Flying Rotarians reside.

Our Speaker, Alan Dias, served as Vice President for the Americas in 2020-2022, and is currently a member of the World Membership and Marketing Committee representing the Americas.

Alan spent seventeen years in progressively more responsible human resource management positions culminating as vice president of human resources of an international insurance holding company. He left to create and develop Personalized Relocation Management which, after twenty years, was sold to Crown Relocation, an international moving company headquartered in Hong Kong. With his wife, Jennie, who is a Real Estate Broker, he manages Al-Jen Holdings, Inc. a Real Estate Consultancy.

Alan earned his private pilot’s license in 1979, has logged over 2,000 hours, earned an instrument rating, and is now a co-owner in a Cessna 182.  Alan once served as the Executive Director of Angel Flight West (AFW) and has been a Command Pilot since 1995. He flies his Cessna 182 out of Whiteman Airport (KWHP) in Southern California.

Alan was a member of Los Angeles 5 – the fifth Club of Rotary International, serving on the board of directors. Six years ago, he was invited to be a charter member of the Rotary E-Club of Aviation, serving as Club President in 2020 – 2021. The Club is chartered in Scotland, meets by Zoom the first and third Wednesdays of each month, has 50 full and affiliate members, and supports charitable projects around the world.

Alan will be telling us more about the IFFR and the services provided by Voluntary Pilot Organizations.
