Eastside Preparatory School's growth and future development
Dr. Terry Macaluso will provide Rotarians an overview of the development of Eastside Preparatory School's reputation as a college preparatory school with a rigorous academic program, its growth from 16 to over 515 students, 121 staff, a $21 million operating budget, and the campus’ expansion from 5,000 to 120,000 square feet of teaching space. Over the past decade EPS has completed several major construction projects: the Levinger-Poole Commons remodel, construction of the science and gym facility, The Macaluso Academic Collaborative, the 50,000 square foot TALI building housing a new theatre, science and general purpose classrooms, rooftop garden, and administrative offices (mission statement is think, act, lead, innovate), and the nearly complete middle school renovation growing from 10,000 to about 15,000 square feet.

Dr. Macaluso was originally retained by the Eastside Preparatory School Board of Trustees in August 2002, to guide them in the development of the school’s mission and vision. She served in a consulting role until March 2003, when she accepted the position as Head of School. Previously, Dr. Macaluso spent nearly thirty years in independent schools and university education, serving as teacher, college counselor, Upper School Director, President, and Head of School in three different schools. In 1999, Dr. Macaluso retired from the headship of Lakeside School in Seattle, after a successful seven-year tenure. Macaluso is the recipient of the 2006 Willard Wright Award for Distinguished Service, given by the Lakeside Board of Trustees to acknowledge extraordinary service to the school.

Dr. Macaluso earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Colorado, an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Denver, an M.A. in Organizational Effectiveness from the Fielding Institute, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Loretto Heights College.
