Almost 60% of the club gathered on July 29, 2024 at Brezza Condominium to hold a 2024 Great Kirkland Rotary Rummage Sale debrief.
As a result of the post-sale debrief held shortly after this year's rummage sale, the club's board approved several changes to our approach to organizing the fundraising event. Club members recognize the changing environment in which the club is working to build ongoing success in community service and investment in its efforts. What was formerly known as the steering committee is now the coordinating team, and is headed by Cody Baker. This lead team is designed to steer and coordinate the efforts of an array of redesigned task teams structured to improve the event operation and financial success.
The new array of teams includes marketing, donations, pricing, stocking, and cashiering, and they are still intended to capitalize on and coordinate Rotarians’ and other volunteers' skills to successfully mount an annual community-wide rummage sale. Cody is recruiting team leads. The team leads will be responsible for recruiting, organizing, and leading the work of their teams. See their descriptions on the related Committees page of the website.
Application has been made to use Lake Washington High School for the 2025 sale, which is tentatively scheduled for June 26 and 27 ... yes, the sale is planned to stretch into a second, partial day. The coordinating team plans to rename the event based on the overwhelming feedback at the debriefing ... there will be more on this as work progresses. Members interested in leading work teams should contact Cody Baker directly, and as soon as possible.
