Announcements:
We will be back at the Woodmark on June 7, with a 15-person minimum! These parameters will hold at least through September. Dave DeBois announced that he is making progress on Duck Dash ticket coupons. Mike Hunter, Patti Smith, and Kristin Olson have finished interviewing seniors at Juanita H.S. for our scholarships. Brandon Honcoop and his team have finished interviews at Lake Washington H.S. Everyone agreed that there was an amazing group of candidates this year.
Happy Dollars:
Once again we had a number of very happy Rotarians. Thank you Dave Aubry, Rich Bergdahl, Terry Cole, Dave DeBois, Mike Hunter, James Nevers, Steve Shinstrom, Rick Walter and John Woodbery for the generous contributions.
Program:
Rich Bergdahl introduced Corky Trewin, our speaker. He is currently the photographer for the Seahawks and the Sounders. He has photographed for the UW, Sounders, Sonics, 1989 Final Four, local golf tournaments, etc. He is a local person who recounted many of his experiences growing up in the Kirkland/Redmond area. He has always liked asking questions to inspire others – sometimes this got him into trouble in school. He grew up in a family of 6 boys born in 5 years – two sets of twins!
He became a photographer for the U. of Kansas and went on recruiting trips with Gale Sayers. Photography became a motivating tool for coaches and recruits throughout his career.
In 7 years, he will be the first Seahawks employee to make 50 years with the organization. He has also been involved in local sports as a participant and referee for decades.
Many questions from Rotarians – he discussed covering different sports and the different issues involved in successfully taking pictures of the action in each of them.
We adjourned at about 7:10 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted
