The club’s board of directors met on Thursday, August 25, at President Amy Mutal's office. Highlights included extensive discussion of the treasurer's proposed budget for the 2022-2023 Rotary year, and detailed budget requests presented by the chairs (or a committee representative) of the international service, community service, and vocational service committees. The international service budget request was approved. The community service and vocational service (including the student of the month and scholarship programs) were continued for further discussion and action at the September board meeting. All committee proposals were crafted to invest both last year's Duck Dash proceeds, and a portion of the unspent proceeds from prior years' fund raising efforts. The treasurer’s report for August was provided in written form, including updates on revenue, expenses.The Duck Dash revenue and expenses were discussed at length. Research by the fund-raising committee was discussed, including very successful garage sale events that raise substantial revenue for at least two northwest clubs. The board passed a motion to hold the Duck Dash in 2022-2023, which is currently planned for Summerfest again. After additional discussion, the board passed a motion to rescind the motion on the Duck Dash, which effectively places the Duck Dash approval for 2022-2023 on hold until a future board meeting. The major questions are whether the club has the members available to mount another Duck Dash, and whether a replacement project can be mounted successfully without having to continue the Duck Dash for one more year. The membership chair's report was received, and a motion was approved to provide Jocelyn Ellison members' birthdates and reimburse minor expenses in order to establish a birthday card program to recognize and greet members on their birthdays. The board meeting schedule is published in the club's Calendar. Fall and spring meetings will be Amy Mutal's business, and the winter meetings (November - March) will be via Zoom.
