The Rotary Club of Kirkland gathered at St. John's Episcopal Church for their annual meeting and gift-wrapping event on December 15, 2025.

In September, the club raised funds to help support many projects through the Rotary Club of Kirkland Auction & Gala. Some of those funds, along with many generous donations allowed the club to help families with students who attend John Muir Elementary School celebrate the holiday season with gifts. The club members and many guests began wrapping presents at 5:30 p.m. Joanne Primavera provided the massive amount of wrapping paper, tape, scissors, ribbons, etc. She also kept us organized by making sure everyone had what they needed. The wrapping continued until about 7:00 p.m.

Attendees: David Aubry, Cody Baker, Roger Clarke, Terry Cole, Jocelyn Ellison, Monica Fratita, Rashmi Garimella, Chris Kelly-Storbeck, Jim Meniketti, Rick Ostrander, Rémy Pairault, Joanne Primavera, Angela Pritchett, John Pruitt, Daniel Sada Caraveo, John Storbeck, and Rick Walter

Guests: Many guests attended, including Anna Aubry, Katie Fraser, Matt & Grace Borland, Michelle Cole, Jeanie & Dave DuMont, Seenu Garimella, CP & Marty Grosenick, Alesha Khun, Kristin Olson, Peggie Ostrander, Janet Pruitt, Eli Vega, Elena Sellers, and Stephanie Walter.

After wrapping presents our group enjoyed a nice dinner. The selection was a variety of dishes and drinks brought by members and guests, coordinated by Rick Walter. The main dish was BBQ pork and turkey from Dickey's Barbecue. The side dishes included corn bread, coleslaw, beans, and a beautiful selection of desserts.

Business Meeting:

Rick Ostrander presided for the business portion of the meeting. He invited everyone to introduce their guests. We sang Happy Birthday to Daniel Sada Caraveo! Rick asked the group to confirm they were planning to deliver the gifts themselves or let him know if he needed to find another volunteer. Rick also made a special acknowledgment to Terry Cole for his contributions and support for this annual event.

A copy of the proposed slate of officers for 2026-27 year was passed around for everyone to review earlier in the evening. Rick confirmed everyone had a chance to review it. David Aubry moved to accept, and Daniel Sada Caraveo seconded. All members voted in favor of the slate, thereby electing the club's officers for 2026-27.

Rotary Moment:

Terry Cole told a sweet story about his experience shopping with a family. After the shopping had finished and he was leaving to go home, a little 5-year-old boy ran after him to ask, "What time is it?" Terry told him the time, and the little boy said, "No, what time are you coming back with the presents!?" Terry also spoke about the magic of Rotary and how an individual can have an idea to help, and fellow Rotarians can come together as a group to "blow it up" and make it a reality.
