John Pruitt shared an inspirational moment about his time spent participating in Reading Buddies

Visiting Rotarians and Guests: Student of the Month, Alex Wyruchowski is visiting us for the first time from Juanita High School. Steve Dewalt is a visiting Rotarian from the Bellevue Tuesday morning club. George Anderson is a visiting Rotarian from Texas who has recently moved to Merrill Gardens. Doug Sato visited us again from Seattle 4. Matt Potts gave the club a brief preview of what we can expect at this year’s 10 Grand’s event put on by RBC Wealth Management. Brandon will be the point of contact for anyone interested in going.

 
Announcements:
  • Dave DeBois – check you inbox for an email regarding the Everett Silvertips Hockey Night on March 14th.Please RSVP by 2/16. Location for the dinner before is still TBD
  • Duck Dash committee had their first meeting tonight.Jason will send an email for day of helpers.
  • Next week is the Valentines Dinner. Keep an eye out for an email on that as well.
Program:
  • Jason Overleese introduced our speaker John Reid. He is mediator that focuses on “Family, Workplace, Community, Business, and Divorce.”. His tips include to recognize your personal traits of why you are in the conflict and to know that all conflict can be managed. Conflict is a natural and expected condition. He recommended the book,  Difficult Conversations : How to Discuss What Matters Most.
President John Pruitt gave a brief update of the club :

- Foundation is at 80% participation. Highest it has been in years. Still shooting for 100%
- $120,000 in the bank
- Activities have included : Miracle League, Duck dash, Everest Park Picnic, Salmon Bake, Wine Tasting, Holiday Cruise and presents, Scholarships, Socials at Hectors, Student of the Month, Bunko, Rotary First Harvest, Reading buddies, Hawaiian Night, Veterans Day , Bell ringing, Kids night, and many more
- Current preset board members stood up and identified themselves and briefly said what they did.

Invite your spouse, significant other, bring a special friend and or invite a potential new member to this meeting.  Anne Hamilton and Richard McClung will be our Presenters on "The Arab Spring Uprising".  Yes, they were in Egypt where and when it all started.  Were they in danger in the midst of the riotous crowds?  Come and listen to them explain their experiences during one of the most significant uprisings of our time (they have some pretty interesting pictures too).
