The club’s International Committee met again this month to continue work on a variety of grant-related project opportunities. Recently, the committee was working with a member of the Rotary Club of Renton, Pauline Kamanja, who founded a school in Nairobi, Kenya.
Pauline was seeking funds for a women’s empowerment project, and to develop Rotary grants for the school, especially a Water, Sanitation, and Health (WASH) Rotary global grant to bring water to the community and school. The International Committee agreed to provide $1,000 to the Rotary Club of Renton to support this empowerment project.
The committee also allocated $1,000 to the Rotary Club of Maple Valley to enter into partnership on a project to provide a generator for the Rwanda Project on which that club is taking the lead.
