Amy Mutal introduced to us our newest members to Kirkland Rotary –

Joe Getzendannier and Ambareen Jaddi – both new members talked about themselves and their family and the desire to do good in the community. Amy gave them a great talk about giving back and finding others who may want to be part of the Rotarian Family. She presented them with their first Rotary pin and of course some paperwork.

Featured Speaker:
Dann Mead Smith with the Washington Policy Center – a think tank which is a 501(c) (3). This organization has been based in Seattle for 22 years and has satellite offices. Dann reminds us they are not political and are not lobbyist – they review issues important to Washington State and put out information on that topic.
They have considered: Charter Schools – State Income Tax – Carbon Tax – Remote Testimony – among other issues. Of course, the McCleary Mandate occupied much of the Education topic in Olympia last year. There were tons of questions for Mr. Smith and he tried to answer them all.

Paull Harris Award – Joanne Primavera received her Paul Harris award with multiple stones for her continued support of Rotary International – she told us how important it was to give to RI for all the good works they do. She also let us know she misses us. Taking care of her ill brother has been a full-time job. Joanne received a standing ovation.

Meeting was adjourned.
