The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting both online and at The Woodmark Hotel on June 14, 202.

Dave DeBois introduced his guest, James Anderson, who is visiting with interest in joining the club. John Pruitt introduced the club’s guests for evening’s program, Danielle MacDonald and Joe Gorder from Rose Hill Middle School and Danielle’s guest Andrew Bratton, Sara Ward and Niki Cassaro from Kirkland Middle School, and Virginia Reinert and Tim Patterson from Kamiakin Middle School. Steve Shinstrom introduced his wife, Patty.
Announcements:
Amy Mutal announced Duck Dash timeline of events. The race is Sunday, September 26, 2021. Ticket sales begin July 12, and members may pick up tickets at a Rotary meeting, at the Prevail Wealth office, at the Shinstrom Insurance office, or at the Kirkland branch of Banner Bank. Ticket sales will occur at the Kirkland Wednesday Market, July 14–22, from 3:00–7:00 p.m.; at the Kirkland QFC selling is planned July 12–September 24. The Branding Party is located at the Lee Johnson Auto Family site on 85th, and will be September 20 at 5–7 p.m. Volunteers needed for Day of Race support, selling at Wednesday Markets, and selling at QFC.

Program:
The Rotary Club of Kirkland presented three recipients the club’s Outstanding Educator Award for 2021. Danielle MacDonald is a counselor at Rose Hill Middle School, Sara Ward is an English language teacher at Kirkland Middle School, and Virginia Reinert is a language arts, social studies, and Quest teacher at Kamiakin Middle School. Each outstanding educator was introduced in turn by her principal, Joe Gorder, Niki Cassaro, and Tim Patterson respectively, and each explained the nature of the outstanding work done by the educator nominated from his or her middle school. Club president James Nevers presented each of the educators a personalized plaque commemorating being named an Outstanding Educator for 2021.
