The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on June 20, 2023 at The Bravern Apartments in Bellevue for the annual Leadership Transition Ceremony and Dinner.

President Amy Mutal called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.

President Amy led us in the pledge.

Attending were Pete Anderson, Bob Auslander, Scott Becker, Rich Bergdahl, Gary Cohn, Terry Cole, Doug Evanson, Jim Feek, Rashmi Garimella, Margie Glenn, Brandon Honcoop, Alan Hoviland, Isabelle Kalisa, Jim Meniketti, Amy Mutal, James Nevers, Rick Ostrander, Joanne Primavera, John Pruitt, Steve Shinstrom, Alice Volpe, and Rick Walter.

The guests this evening were Michelle Cole, Christine DeBois, past president Sandy Ekins, Kathy Feek, Seenu Garimella, Becca Honcoop, David Mutal, past president Dwight Olson, Peggy Ostrander, Patty Shinstrom, Nanette Bergdahl, and past president John Woodbery.

Announcements, Club Business, Committee Reports:

Dave DeBois and Pete Anderson provided brief updates on the status of the Great Kirkland Rotary Rummage Sale in anticipation of the start of collection of merchandise Monday of the coming week. Pete announced the scheduling of an “all teams” club meeting the next night, Wednesday, June 21, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The teams meeting will be entirely on Zoom.

Happy Bucks:

There were no Happy Bucks collected during this meeting.

Program:

President Amy provided a review of the 2022-2023 Rotary year, listing a variety of club activities and accomplishments during the past twelve months.

President Amy presented Rick Walter the Rotarian of the Year award, noting several of Rick’s contributions to the club during the past year.

President Amy presented Gary Cohn an Above and Beyond Award for his work on the update to the constitution and bylaws, and the maintenance of the website and bulletin.

Immediate Past President Dave DeBois presented President Amy the traditional commemorative plaque with gavel to memorialize her year as president of the club.

All of the past presidents present for the evening lined up in order of their service to the club, and passed the gavel from earliest to the current president, announcing their name and year or years of service and offering brief comment about the experience. At the end of ceremony the gavel was passed to President-Elect Gary who will begin service on July 1.

Joker Pool:

There was no Joker Pool this evening.

Adjournment:

President-Elect Gary adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
