The club’s board of directors met on Thursday evening, March 20, 2025 at the Banner Bank branch in downtown Kirkland. Highlights included discontinuation of the rummage/super sale, agreement to use the foundation auction as the major fundraiser, discussing an alternative meeting venue, discussing the meeting schedule, approving the board meeting calendar for 2025-2026, discussing filling the sergeant at arms and the executive director/secretary positions, and receiving reports from various officers and committee chairs.The treasurer reviewed reported on the status of the club’s expenses and assets, distributing a balance sheet and income statement as well as a budget worksheet as of February 28, 2025. Directors discussed budget issues for the coming year, and the possibility of unplanned expenses associated with the Outstanding Educator Award program.
The Kirkland Rotary Super Sale committee reported on the lack of success in obtaining commitments from potential sponsors, and the need to fill some leadership positions. After a frank discussion about the amount of time left to make a success of a third sale, the board voted to discontinue the sale project in favor of working with the Kirkland Rotary Foundation to expand the foundation gala and auction to raise more money for club community and international service projects.
