At 5:30 p.m. on March 21, 2024, President Gary called to order the special, virtual meeting of club membership. In the absence of the steering committee chair, Gary led the discussion of rummage sale preparations.

In attendance:  David Aubry, Bob Auslander, Scott Becker, Rich Bergdahl, Michelle Cazeau, Gary Cohn, Don Dicks, Jocelyn Ellison, Monica Fratita, Rashmi Garimella, Margie Glenn, Jim Meniketti, Amy Mutal, Rick Ostrander, John Pruitt, Daniel Sada Caraveo, and Rick Walter. Nancy Khoury was a guest of the club.

Facility: Gary reported that the school staff approved July 13 for the sale, and the reservations for the preceding five days for donations, and Pete has received the approved facility use form with fee calculation from the district office, and John Storbeck has paid the initial invoice which does not include actual extra custodial time or other incidental costs.

Operating hours: Donation hours were revised to 9 am. to 3 p.m. on Monday - Wednesday, July 8 – 10, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday - Friday, July 11 – 12, providing both morning- and afternoon-oriented times for donations. There will not be a preview night this year.

Teams and volunteers: Gary reviewed the status of rummage sale teams and the team leader appointments. Nancy Khoury has volunteered to lead the finance team (she has started the membership process as a secondary corporate member), and Michelle Cazeau volunteered to lead the volunteers team. Don Dicks and Jocelyn Ellison volunteered to serve as assistant team leads to support Michelle. Gary asked that every member devote some time to two teams. Scott Becker volunteered to arrange for the WM dumpsters again, and to request support from Attain Housing/Hopelink or Goodwill to take unpurchased merchandise.

Sponsorships: Gary noted that Scott Becker has volunteered again to coordinate the sponsorship recruitment. Scott announced that Lee Johnson Auto Family will again sponsor at the $3,000 level. Bob Auslander pledged to sponsor at the $5,000 level, and Don Dicks renewed his family sponsorship. Banner Bank staff indicate the bank will sponsor, but the level is not yet known. Gary asked that members join in the effort to renew sponsors.

Markting materials: Gary displayed the near-final draft yard sign, poster/flyer, volunteer poster, and information postcard, which should be completed and sent to production by Monday. He also reviewed the planned promotion channels and received feedback.

Meetings: The next Rotary Club of Kirkland Rummage Sale Team Meeting is Wednesday, March 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Brezza Condominium in Kirkland.

The special meeting of the club was adjourned at 5:58 p.m.
