The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on November 29, 2021 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

President Dave DeBois rang the bell at 6:22 p.m., calling the club meeting to order.

John Pruitt led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Attending were George Anderson, David Aubry, Scott Becker, Rich Bergdahl, Bella Chaffey, Gary Cohn, Terry Cole, David DeBois, Donald Dicks, Monica Fratita, Jim Meniketti, James Nevers, Ernie Norehad, Kristin Olson, Rick Ostrander, Joanne Primavera, John Pruitt, Bill Taylor, and Rick Walter. This meeting was actually a hybrid, as Rich Bergdahl, Rick Walter and our own Monica Fratita and partner Sergio joined us via Zoom for her baby shower.

Guests:

Rotarian spouses Anna Aubry and Sandy Taylor were in-person guests for this evening, Nanette Bergdahl join the meeting via Zoom, and prospective Rotarian John Storbeck was present this evening.  Monica’s partner, Sergio, also joined the club members in person at the end of the meeting.

Greeter:

Our greeters this evening was Jim Meniketti, who manned the front desk.

Announcements & Club Business:

Bella Chaffey announced that we have almost $10,000 in our holiday gift fund and will be able to help 12 families this year.  She will send more information in the next couple of days.  She still needs a couple more drivers to help deliver the wrapped gifts to the families.

Happy Bucks:

President Dave did a quick round of Happy Dollars – there was quite a number of Happy Rotarians, several of whom spoke about shopping locally as much as possible.

Program:

President Dave thanked Joanne and Kristin for pulling the event to together.

Our program consisted of a baby shower with members opening their gifts for Monica and Sergio on camera; Monica thanked each giver profusely.  There were a number of humorous comments about the vicissitudes of child-rearing.

Kristin and Joanne provided a cake for the event and showed it to Monica and Sergio before cutting and distributing pieces to all in attendance.  Sergio was invited to come by and get the gifts and remaining cake for himself and Monica, which he did, a couple of minutes after we adjourned.  He also brought flowers for Kristin and Joanne; a gesture much appreciated.

Joker Pool:

There was not a Joker Pool this evening.

Adjournment:

President Dave rang the bell at 7:15 p.m. to adjourn the meeting.

Respectfully Submitted
Dave Aubry – Acting Scribe
