President Patti Smith called the joint meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkland and the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce to order promptly at 6:21pm.  Bob Webb led us in the Pledge.

Guests included the candidates for State Representatives, District 45, Position 1, Roger Goodman and Joel Hussey; District 45, Position 2, Larry Springer and Jim Thatcher; District 48, Position 1, Bill Hirt and Ross Hunter; and District 48, Position 2, Cyrus Habib and Hank Myers.  There were also numerous guests of Rotarians and the Kirkland Chamber.

President Patti quickly turned over the meeting to Chris Morgan, who served as the able bodied moderator for the Legislative Candidate Forum for the 45th and 48th Districts.  Diana Kohn served as the official timekeeper.

Program:  There were probing questions asked by the respective candidates to their opponent and some interesting answers.  Almost all of the candidates emphasized the challenges presented by the proper funding of education.  Each table had the opportunity to pose questions to the candidates as a whole, or to direct a question to a specific candidate.  The evening ended with final statements made by the candidates regarding why they should be elected as our State Representative.
