The Rotary Club of Kirkland Board of Directors formally established a Rotary Rummage Sale Committee last evening, to succeed the Rotary Fundraising Committee. The new committee comprises the club's vice president, Pete Anderson, the immediate past-president, Dave DeBois, and the membership chair, Rick Walter. This committee is charged with steering the effort to success, and coordinating the work of the various rummage sale teams for which club members have been volunteering.

Until the separate, planned Rotary Rummage Sale website is established, members may find key information on the Rummage Sale Committee page of the club's website, which may be accessed on the drop-down "Committees" menu item on the club's website home page. A link to volunteer for each of the five rummage sale teams may be found on that Rummage Sale Committee page. Club members may view the new Rummage Sale Teams matrix by selecting the item of that name on the "Members" drop-down menu on the home page. In addition, the membership of the club's other committees (e.g., membership, club service) may also be found using the Rotary Committees item on that same "Members" drop-down menu on the home page.

The Rotary Club of Kirkland membership formally approved, by unanimous vote on January 30, to move from annually sponsoring the Great Puget Sound Duck Dash to sponsoring an annual rummage sale as the club's major fundraising project. The first rummage sale is planned for the first Saturday in July, depending upon location availability. A Kirkland school site is the preferred venue for such a project, and the Rummage Sale Committee members are currently working with Juanita High School leadership to secure space on that campus. The project is to be fashioned after the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island Annual Auction & Rummage Sale. Look for further information in The Spokesman as the plans and the work unfold.
