Juanita High School senior Soniyah Boun is dedicated to aiding marginalized groups to have proper representation in both her field of study and social issues impacting underrepresented minorities daily. Her determination to push for reform and change is prevalent through her participation in the "Justice Education Project", a government recognized non-profit organization devoted to advocacy for legal reform in the U.S. Growing past prior life obstacles, Soniyah has developed a passion for advocacy and the push of better representation of the diverse cultures and financial situations prominent through America.

Despite being a lover of the literary arts, her passion for science continues to motivate her toward a career in bioethics. Soniyah is working to achieve her Biology DTA and plans to attend a four-year university after high school. This will start her promotion toward reforming the public conversation around social issues surrounding race and social class as well as pushing for change and better representation for women in STEM. Soniyah was awarded a Kirkland Rotary Scholarship.
