Bob and Gail Auslander are leaders in the Rotary Club of Kirkland Scholarship Program. Last year the Auslanders funded the Kirkland Rotary Education Scholarship and the Kirkland Rotary Technical Education Scholarship for students attending Lake Washington high schools. The scholarships are intended to draw students who demonstrate financial need, academic promise, a record of community service, the promise of societal contribution, and intend to become educators, either in a general education field or a technical education field. The first recipient of the Education Scholarship was Caroline Hahn, who graduated from Emerson High School. For 2021, the Auslanders continued the both scholarships, and generously allowed a carryover from last year, so three scholarships are available.
