Really the Holiday Party Last Call!!!
The Holiday Gift Wrapping Party is Monday, December 20, 2021, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with gift wrapping. The club will meet at the Kirkland Woman's Club at 407 First Street in Kirkland. This is the very last call for gift wrapping party registration! Really! Club members may register using the "Rotary Holiday Gift Wrapping Party" event in the club's December Calendar. The fee is $50 per attendee, which covers venue, food, and drink costs, and must be paid at the time of registration. (Get in touch with Gary Cohn if you have any trouble with the online registration and payment process.) Holiday gifting supports John Muir Elementary School families. The John Muir staff identified 150 families whose circumstances make them eligible for holiday gift donations, and this event will serve a dozen of those families.

Join A Duck Dash Committee!!!
The Rotary Club of Kirkland Board of Directors is forming a Future of the Duck Dash Committee. Club members who are interested in determining whether to continue the fund raising project after 2022 should volunteer.

This committee will research alternatives and decide whether to present one or more alternatives to the board and membership for approval. Some club members have expressed an interest in moving to another fund raising project. A new principal fund raising project, if chosen by the club, would start in 2023, and need to be capable of raising $30,000 to fund club community service work.

International Committee News
International Service Committee chair Joanne Primavera reports that the International Committee met on November 23 and decided to give equal amounts of $2,150 to each of three projects. The first is a project championed by Kristin Olson, and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Costalegre, Barra de Navidad, Mexico. It provides for continued safety and environmental improvements at the local middle school. Second is a project championed by Bella Chaffey, the Women Empowerment Training Program in Nairobi, Kenya, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Renton. Finally, the committee approved a project championed by Monica Fratita, and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Galati Donaris, Romania. It pays for installing bathrooms in each patient’s room in the infectious disease hospital in Galati, which currently has only common bathrooms on hospital floors.
