Attending were James Nevers, Dave Aubry, Jason Overleese, Steve Shinstrom, Margie Glenn, Mike Hunter, George Anderson, Gary Cohn, Dan Bartel, Joanne Primavera, Kristin Olson, Rick Ostrander, Stefan Landvogt, John Pruitt, Terry Cole, David Debois, Ambareen Jaddi, Bella Chaffey, Bob & Gail Auslander, Monica Fratita, Brandon Honcoop, Cheryl Guenther, Rich Bergdahl, John Woodbery, Patti Smith, Rick Walter, Don Dicks, Amy Mutal, Dave Mutal, and Elizabeth Rusnak. Tonight is scholarship night, so among our many guests on Zoom were 12 students and several of the students’ parents, the two educators to be recognized, and the educators’ principals. 6:18PM - President John Woodbery rang the bell and we recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
We all muted until our turn to speak. We acknowledged current events in a respectful manner. James explained Rotary’s mission in the world to our guests – our main objective is service. Gary Cohn introduced the honorees for Scholarship Night. He thanked James Nevers and Patti Smith for their fund-raising efforts, and thanked several other Rotarians for adding additional scholarships to the usual quota. Team leads were introduced for the various schools that provided scholarship candidates, plus other significant players in the Club’s scholarship efforts. Team leaders recounted all the players involved in identifying and recognizing these singular candidates. The team leaders then presented scholarships to the students. Haylee Vanderstelt, Lake Washington H.S. Michelle Benisti, Lake Wash. Inst. of Tech. Alisa Bright, Lake Wash. Inst. of Tech. We really have an amazing collection of recipients. We heard about some of their accomplishments and some of their future goals. All had amazing GPAs and impressive goals. We recognized the two recipients of the club’s Outstanding Educator Awards. Kelly Clapp, the principal of Juanita High, introduced teacher Tiffany Chow. Christina Thomas, principal at Lake Washington High School, introduced teacher Justin Hopkins.
