Announcements, Club Business, Committee Reports:

Dave Aubry again reminded everyone that the Kirkland Rotary Foundation Social and Auction is coming up, October 22, at St John’s Church on State St. in Kirkland.  Dinner and wine or beer or soft drinks are only $10 per person plus one item to auction!  This is a great deal – and always lots of fun, plus we will make a few thousand for a good cause.

Rick Walter reminded everyone to sign up and join him for Pumpkins in the Park October 29 benefitting Kirkland Downtown Association.  You should have received an email to that effect, with a link to sign up for the event, plus sign-ups can also be done directly through the calendar on the Club’s website.  The Club will have a booth promoting Kirkland Rotary.

Pete Anderson reported on a possible replacement for the Duck Dash as our primary fund-raiser.  Many District 5030 clubs have been contacted for information on how they raise money.  Included in the inquiry is a request for how much effort and participation by Club members is required, how successful it is, etc.  The committee is still sorting through the many responses received.

Rotary's Four-Way Test
Club Secretary Position Open
Club secretary Margie Glenn stepped down from the club secretary position effective September 1, citing significantly increased travel plans for the year including spending the bulk of the winter in Scottsdale, Arizona. Margie recruited two members to fill in temporarily, and the position is open for all club members to consider for election. If you are interested in serving as the club's secretary, please contact club president Amy Mutal by phone, by email, or in person to express your interest. Club officers are elected by the membership, typically after being included in a slate of officers presented by the board of directors. A successor to Margie should be prepared to attend club meetings and board meetings in order to take and report the minutes through the Spokesman.
Club Attendance for August, September 2022
The club held five meetings during the nine weeks of August and September 2022. There was one holiday and other Mondays were devoted to events. Meetings were held at the Courtyard by Marriott, and most included a Zoom option. Overall club attendance for August was 54.6%, and for September it was 33.3%. January through July attendance ranged from 36% to 43%. As a footnote, the club's membership fell from 43 to 36 with the start of the new year, so the base for the calculation is different. Attendance was not gathered for two events in July, the branding party and Duck Dash day-of-race activities, nor for the Salmon Bake or Duffy Electric Boat events.
Bulletin Readership August-September 2022
Club members' readership of the bulletin, The Spokesman, in August and September fell off occasionally compared to the rates in June and July. Readership rates were 58% to 74%, compared to the June range of 61-68% and the July range of 65% to 68%. The non-member rates for the same editions were between 47% and 50% of the addressees, with the number of valid addresses falling as students' addresses were closed by the district. A bulletin is "read" when the email containing it is opened by the recipient. The ClubRunner program doesn't track "clicks" on items in the bulletins.
