Committee Reports:

Marketing and Technology Team, update by Dave
  • Posters are a work in progress, and hopefully will be ready to go in a week’s time.
  • The tea liked the suggestion from Rashmi about slipping Rotary Rummage Sale flyers in Kirkland Wine walk bags.
  • We need many volunteers to give away handouts.
  • Kirkland is going to dedicate the painted pride flag crosswalk at Marina Park, and we received approval to set up a table Friday, June 2, 5:00 p.m. Jocelyn will provide details with Gary once it is ready and Gary will publish details with everyone via ClubRunner.
  • Alice will be working on setting up an email to send out to people and we will use our own (personal) distribution list to do that.
  • Someone needs to contact the neighborhood associations and condominium associations to give away stuff for the rummage sale. The sale can benefit from people downsizing.
  • We need to place notices in the newspaper, radio stations, and television stations: Who exactly is going this is to be determined.
  • Gary is seeking answers for separating the list of items we want and the list of items we don’t; the website is still not complete with respect to this list; and he suggested that we have determined not to accept any boat which is larger than 16 feet and/or an outboard motor larger than 15 h.p. Gary also noted that the rummage sale website info@kirklandrotaryrummagesale.org email is not working as expected, and he is working on resolving the issues. As of today, the new website is not fully functional,
  • Rashmi is to contact kirkland.gov for advertising.
  • When the website is fully functional we will not be holding back social media marketing ads.

Register Now for June 5 Scholarship Night
The Rotary Club of Kirkland's June 5 in-person meeting has been moved to St. John's Episcopal Church, at 105 State Street in Kirkland. Dinner will be catered by The Catering Company, the same firm that provided food for the salmon bake and the holiday party.

Rotarians: Registration is now open for club members who plan to attend the Scholarship Award Night meeting. The fee for dinner is $40. Guests are welcome to attend, and you may register and pay for them when you register yourself for the event. Please register by June 2 so the caterer is provided an accurate meal count. Volunteer at Pride Ribbon Cutting Rotary Table
The City of Kirkland is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 2, 2023, at 5 p.m. to unveil the installation of a new crosswalk at the entrance of Marina Park at Kirkland Avenue and Lakeshore Plaza. The crosswalk is modeled after the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag. The ribbon cutting ceremony is one of several events in Kirkland and the Eastside to celebrate Pride Month. The city invites community members to come and enjoy ice cream, games, swag, and more to celebrate the crosswalk unveiling with city council members, local businesses, and interest groups.

ROTARY HAS A TABLE! Rotary member Jocelyn Ellison has secured a table at the event for Rotary members and the club's guests to participate in the event and distribute information about Rotary and the Great Kirkland Rotary Rummage Sale at this community outreach opportunity. Rotarians may volunteer to work the table by clicking HERE to register. If you have questions about the ceremony, visit the city's website page on the event, and feel free to contact Jocelyn for further details.

Cost for members and guests is $50, including beverages, and the REGISTRATION is now open on the club's website. The deadline for registering is midnight on June 11. 2023-2024 Dues Approved
The Rotary Club of Kirkland Board of Directors set the annual dues amount for 2023-2024 during its meeting the week. Rotarians' dues statements for 2023-2024 will be published on June 1, 2023, and are due by June 30, 2023.

The club's ad hoc finance committee recommended, and the board debated and approved, two adjustments in individual dues amounts. Increases were driven primarily by an increase in the Rotary International charge, and anticipated increases in the club's cost of doing business during the coming year. The RI increase was approximately $4.00, and the club increase was approximately $6.00. The annual dues total, including the amounts for Rotary International, Rotary District 5030, the club, the Rotary Magazine, and the recommended donation to the Rotary International Foundation to earn the "Every Rotarian Every Year" designation, comes to $400. The board has committed to keep the dues level for three years, barring unforeseen emergencies.
