The 2022 Great Puget Sound Duck Dash Committee will hold an organizational meeting on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 5 p.m. in the beautiful Courtyard by Marriott. Duck Dash Committee members are needed for this gathering. Refreshments will be provided (within reason)!
The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on April 25, 2022 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
President Dave DeBois rang the bell at 6:56 p.m., calling the club meeting to order.
Bob Auslander led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Rotarians, our club's 2021-22 scholarship program application process closed at the beginning of last month. For 2021-22, the club’s allocation for 2021-22 is again $7,000. Each of the club-sponsored scholarships is for $1,000. Individual Rotarians' commitments for five additional, "specialty" scholarships this year, totaling $6,500, brought the program to $13,500.
This year 13 Lake Washington High School, Juanita High School, and the International Community School students began the online application process through the SmarterSelect program. Four students from LWHS and JHS completed and submitted scholarship applications, and will be interviewed by club members.
The 2022 Duck Dash will be held during Kirkland's Summerfest, which is July 29-31, 2022 this year. Rotarians will want to save the date, Sunday, July 31, 2022, for the Great Puget Sound Duck Dash around 2 p.m.
And Duck Dash preparations continue! Scott Becker is recruiting Kirkland businesses and club members for Duck Dash sponsorships. Rotarian Brett Johnson is hosting the annual Racing Duck Branding Party, which will be held this year on Monday, July 25, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Lee Johnson Auto Family campus. Club members are needed for assistance with coupon sponsors and prizes. Please contact Dave or Scott with your commitments or referrals of commitments. The club’s board of directors met on Thursday, April 21, using the Zoom platform. Highlights include discussion of holiday gift coordination with another charitable organization, the upcoming Electric Boats event, the decline in number of scholarship applications, and development of the 2022-2023 board.
The treasurer’s report was provided in written form, including updates on revenue, expenses, and status the Duck Dash sponsorship progress.
