The Rotary Club of Kirkland held its regular weekly meeting online on June 22, 2020.
The meeting began a bit after 6:12 p.m., as arranged by James Nevers, using his Zoom account. As usual, we waited a few minutes before starting, to give everyone a chance to ‘arrive’.
Rotarians, your dues statement for the new Rotary year are coming your way at the end of this month. You’ll notice two significant differences in your statement this year. First is the format and how you will be able to pay online. Second is some changes in dues amounts driven primarily by changes in district and national charges.
Fellow Rotarians, as we enter a new Rotary year with the upcoming Kirkland Rotary Transition Celebration, please consider your committee commitments for 2020-21. President James has assembled a very short survey, and asks that you complete it by this weekend. You can access the survey by answering the email he sent to each active member of the Rotary Club of Kirkland, or by clicking on this link: https://forms.gle/A545af97pdZo5VfK8.
Once you access the committee survey, please sign up for at least two committees for 2020-21. There is much to do in this new Rotary year, especially as the club works to overcome the barriers to our community service created by COVID-19. Every Rotarian’s contribution matters to the health of the club, and the health of our community. The 2020-21 Rotary International motto is Rotary Opens Opportunities; the opportunity to build fellowship, help others, and grow as a leader in your community. The first step is to get involved in your club through one of our many service committees. If you did not see the survey in your inbox, please check your spam filter to determine if Rotary emails are being filtered by your email software.
Rotarians, we’re about to enter a new Rotary year, and you can help focus club meeting topics. Do you have a topic theme that you’d like to see addressed during the year? Is there a particular speaker you’d like invited to the club? Now you can suggest speakers, topic, and themes through the Rotary Club of Kirkland website.
Right now, or any time during the year, select the “Suggest A Speaker” item under the “Contact Us” drop-down menu at the top of our club’s home page. Then fill in the blanks on the form to suggest a speaker, and use the “Comments” section to provide your thoughts on topics for a month.
You can also send your suggestions to any member of the Programs Committee: James Nevers, Darcia Tudor, Rich Bergdahl, and Gary Cohn. If you’d like to join the Programs Committee, please send a note to James Nevers. You can help make this Rotary year exactly what you wish it to be.
