![]() Honoring elementary school educators for outstanding service
May 19, 2025 6:40 p.m.
The Rotary Club of Kirkland very much appreciates the work local educators are doing to offer quality instructional and support programs during challenging times, and we continue to recognize outstanding educators within our region. While it’s likely there are several examples of “outstanding Service Above Self” among the staff at each school in our community, each year one or more schools nominate one educator who best represents characteristics drawn from the “Object of Rotary”:
The Rotary Club of Kirkland is pleased to honor staff of the Lake Washington School District in the Kirkland area who best represent these high ideals.

![]() Rotary Club of Kirkland Scholarship Presentations
Jun. 02, 2025 6:40 p.m.
The Rotary Club of Kirkland's Scholarship Program awards several scholarships in 2025 to selected local students for their higher education at accredited institutions in the state of Washington. These scholarships recognize students for a variety of achievements and are designed to support students with financial need and academic promise, and who demonstrate service to their communities.
During the annual application cycle, Rotary Club of Kirkland members examine applications and assess self-interview videos and select the most promising applicants. Students are encouraged to apply for as many scholarships for which they qualify using the online application form. For this year's scholarships, students must attend an accredited higher education institution (e.g., college, university, art institute, technical college, cosmetology school, trade school) in the state of Washington.
Applicants are encouraged to review each of the various scholarships' criteria for applicability to their circumstances and future plans. For the 2025 cycle, the following scholarships may be offered:

On August 23, 1937, the Rotary Club of Seattle (the fourth club established by Rotary) chartered the Rotary Club of Kirkland with 41 members. Kirkland was the 120th club to be chartered, and early meetings in the American Legion Hall involved building of acquaintances, developing attendance within our club, and with not so easily reached other local clubs, none of which existed on the Eastside. Intercity meetings were popular and it was customary for visiting clubs to put on the program for the host club.
On September 20, 1937 the charter presentation banquet for the Rotary Club of Kirkland was held at Kirkland High School. Neighboring clubs represented at the banquet included Seattle, Everett, Port Angeles, Oak Harbor, Sumner, Tacoma, and Vancouver, B.C.
On June 16, 2025, current and past Rotarians, including many past presidents of the club, will gather at this Leadership Transition Dinner to pass the gavel to the 89th president of the Rotary Club of Kirkland.

This is an evening of fun and fellowship you won’t want to miss! The location is Kirkland Woman's Club. Think about something to donate for the auction. (Maybe a week in Cabo, or tickets to a great sporting or performance event, or dinner in your home, or a lovely house plant, or wine and glasses, or use of your Rolls for a week, or ….) The Rotary Club of Kirkland and the Kirkland Rotary Foundation combine their efforts to make this annual fundraiser the charity event of the year.
