Application Instructions

A completed Rotary Club of Kirkland Student of the Month Application Form and the Rotary Club of Kirkland Student of the Month Certification Form must be approved by the high school contact in the Counseling Office or Career Center.  The high school contact must verify that the student and the student’s parent or guardian has agreed to the certification statements and permissions.  All applications must be submitted electronically using the Rotary application management software.  Original Certification Form hard copies remain with the school contact.
 
Applications for the 2023-24 school year are closed.
 
Application submissions become the property of the Rotary Club of Kirkland and will not be returned.
 

Student of the Month Selection Criteria

  • Ability to express with clarity current educational, career, and personal goals;
  • Record of school- and community-related involvement and accomplishments, whether traditional or non-traditional, that distinguish the student;
  • Ability to describe significant life challenges or obstacles, and how these were overcome, if they were overcome;
  • Understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses, and how they contribute to the student’s ability to accomplish educational, career, and personal goals;
  • Ability to articulate the importance of role models and how a role model can contribute –and may have contributed– to the student’s motivation to improve his or her community and society; and
  • General understanding of the purpose of Rotary, and the work and priorities of the Rotary Club of Kirkland; 
  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior at the Lake Washington School District’s Lake Washington High School (including those participating in a Running Start program).
