Vernon Lumpkin describes himself as a Singaporean American who is pursuing an entrepreneurial career in data science and information technologies. He believes that the exciting and engaging presentation of data leads to a more educated population capable of making informed and impactful decisions. He is his high school’s ASB vice-president, Key Club president, and DECA vice-president of finance. Vernon supports his peers and other students by planning community building events, fundraisers, volunteering opportunities, managing club and student government operations, and endorsing students' passions in business, volunteering, and pursuing education! Outside of school, he works for the city of Kirkland as a paid climate justice intern, engaging with council members and other city officials to further the goals of the city's Sustainabiliity Master Plan and address climate injustice by connecting with the community. Additionally, Vernon is the managing director of Ignite Robotics. This STEM education non-profit promotes STEM education and robotics within underrepresented groups and minorities by providing an accessible experience in addition to offering scholarships and social awareness workshops!
