MEOW Cat Rescue means a second chance for all cats
During this meeting, Rotarians will host MEOW Cat Rescue Executive Director Bonne VeVea, who leads a nearly 25-year old, no-kill cat shelter located in Kirkland, Washington. Bonne will share the history of a small group of animal-loving friends who commited to create a better life for homeless animals, starting what was known as the Mercer Island Eastside Orphans & Waifs, or MEOW. She’ll describe how today hundreds of volunteers fill dozens of different roles to keep the shelter running efficiently and place approximately 800 to 1,000 animals into permanent homes each year, including several from MEOW Canine Division.

MEOW’s goal is to help create a “no-kill nation,” where people are responsible for their pets, where there are no helpless creatures abandoned in boxes or left to fend for themselves in parking lots, where there is no longer a need for any healthy companion animal to be euthanized.
