Jim Moore of Malaria Partners International
Rotary’s Million Dollar Malaria Grant
Jim Moore will update Rotarians on the only Rotary International Grant in 2020-21 for over $1 million.  This multi-district, multi-club Rotary International project eliminates malaria in a region in Zambia and is a proven cost-effective model.

Jim has been a member of the Rotary Club of Seattle for 22 years.  He served as District 5030 International Service Chair for three years, then as District Global Grant Coordinator during 2015 -2017.  Jim was a founding board member and past current vice chair of Malaria Partners International, through which he focuses on international partnerships and Rotarian efforts against malaria in Zambia and West Africa.

Jim’s international development interest began with three years of Peace Corps service in Nepal. Subsequently, he led multi-cultural project teams in 20 different countries of Asia and Africa, focusing on water, agriculture, and infrastructure development.  A 2009 recipient of Rotary International’s “Service Above Self” award for his international work, Jim was also a founding board member and board chair of Seattle NGO, Water 1st International, and currently serves on the board of Sahar Education International (Afghanistan).

In private business, Jim was CFO and COO of small and medium scale manufacturing companies, worked in venture capital, and served on the boards of two private companies.  Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in engineering and applied physics, a Master of Business Administration and a Master in Regional Planning degree from Harvard University.  To avoid an empty nest, Jim and his wife, Kristi, have hosted 35 international students in their home over the past 15 years.
