Rotary Club of Kirkland's Student of the Month for March, Madeleine Garrison, will visit with membership the evening of the March 3 meeting. Madeleine is a junior from Lake Washington High School who says she has a heart to serve and a love of helping others. Madeleine says that though the transition from homeschool to public school was socially challenging, she is now thriving as a Running Start student at Bellevue College. Her hard-working character has brought her success as an athlete and competitor; she helped lead her school's varsity gymnastics team to the state championship, and she has competed on the national level in speech and debate. Madeleine is also a successful competitive jump roper, having won multiple national titles and competed in the Junior World Championships. This summer, she hopes to qualify to the World Championships in Japan!

Madeleine loves working with children, and volunteers in her church's PreK classrooms. She also shares her passion for the sport of jump rope with the next generation by helping coach the younger athletes on her jump rope team, performing at elementary schools, and teaching jump rope enrichment classes at Lakeview Elementary. After high school, Madeleine hopes to attend the University of Washington and study in the STEM field, either in astrophysics or computer science.
