Rotary Club of Kirkland's Student of the Month for November, Rosie Ying, will visit with membership the evening of the December 2 meeting. Rosie describes herself as committed to being a helping hand to all of those who need it. She says she's dedicated to making the communities of which she is a part better through collaboration and communication. By pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Rosie aims to become a software engineer and to develop technology that can make the world a better and more fun place to be.Rosie is president of LINK Crew, which plans monthly events for upperclassmen and freshmen to build meaningful connections. Additionally, she tackles underrepresentation of women's sports through managing the LWHS Swim and Dive team instagram (@lwhsswive!), and serves as the co-founding president of Women in Sports Club. In founding WiSC, Rosie headed an officer team that led projects to spotlight all sports and their accomplishments at LWHS. Outside of school, she collaboratively created two distinct murals for the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park through the IMBY and YAIR National Park Service internships. She also taught private swim lessons, helping kids age 3-12 develop critical swimming skills.
During the 2024-2025 Rotary year, all of the students of the month are attending Lake Washington High School. Rotarians can learn more about Rosie during the December 2 in-person meeting at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Meeting Hall.
