The club’s board of directors met on Thursday, November 16, 2023 on the Zoom platform. Highlights included reports from the community service and club service chairs on the progress of the Thanksgiving basket purchases, the holiday gift purchases and gift wrapping party planning, the mini-fellowship dinners planning, and the Rotary Valentine Dinner planning.The treasurer reported on the progress of investing in short-term certificates of deposit at Banner Bank. The board heard about the IRS filing, and reviewed the gambling rules as applied to Joker Pool, then adopted a resolution setting forth the rationale for no longer maintaining a license because the Joker Pool does not qualify.
The board discussed details of proposed language for the spouse/partner membership, and approved an amendment to Appendix A of the club's Bylaws to provide both past scholarship awardees and students of the month a one-year dues waiver when beginning membership after completing their higher education undergraduate work. The membership chair reported on the status of two prospects. The board reviewed the status of the nominating committee's work, and scheduled a special meeting in two weeks to act on the nominations and the spouse/partner language.
