Club president Amy Mutal this week announced the appointment of the club's annual board nominating committee, this year comprising Pete Anderson, Gary Cohn, and a past-president to be named. The committee is responsible under the bylaws for organizing a proposed slate of officers and directors for the forthcoming year. The slate will consist of the president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and four members of the board of directors who are chairs of the avenues of service committees (five when the new bylaws are adopted). The president-elect automatically becomes president, and the president automatically becomes the immediate past-president. A slate of officers needs to be presented to the club very soon. If any member is interested in serving in a particular office, please contact one of the members of this committee to make your interest known. If you know someone else who should be a candidate, submit the person's name to one of the nominating committee members.
During its April 20 meeting, the club's board of directors approved extensive revisions to the club's bylaws for presentation to membership during the upcoming regular, in-person club meeting on Monday, May 1, 2023. The club's bylaws have not been updated in some time, and this proposed revision is the result of work over several years by bylaws committee members Dave Aubry, Gary Cohn, and past member Brian Tucker. Rotary International requires each club to adopt bylaws, requires certain content be present, and provides latitude to the club with respect to several elements of the bylaws. The proposed revisions are designed to meet those requirements and more.
A copy of the proposed revised bylaws is posted to the club's website in the Documents section of the Organization area.
Attain Housing is hosting an Open House for supporters, friends, and community, which includes this Rotary Club's membership, on April 24 from 4 - 6 p.m. (just prior to the club's all-committees meeting) at the Kirkland 4-Plex, 12601 NE 132nd Street in Kirkland. Attain leaders invite Rotarians to tour one of their facilities, where board members and staff will be available to answer your questions. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP is required at shama@attainhousing.org.
The club’s board of directors met on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Prevail Wealth Management. Highlights included an update on preparations for the Great Kirkland Rotary Rummage Sale this summer; appointment of a president-elect to fill the vacancy; review of the calendar for next year that anticipates club approval of the three-per-month meeting schedule; and an extensive review and board approval of the proposed revisions to the club's bylaws.
