Remember Rotarians: on Monday, April 18, we will not meet in-person. Instead of meeting at the Courtyard, we will all join a virtual Rotary club at 5:00p.m.
Kirkland Rotarians will join the Rotary Club of the Pacific Northwest Against Sex Trafficking, a predominantly on-line Rotary club with a single purpose. This Rotary club meets on-line twice a month, and holds a fellowship once a month and one hands-on service project each month.
Please join the meeting as close to 5:00 p.m. as possible to avoid interrupting our host club's meeting agenda. Use our Rotary club's Calendar to download the April 18 meeting information to your personal calendar; the April 18 meeting on our Calendar contains the link to the Zoom meeting. Information about the virtual club and the program are available in the April 18, 2022 item on our club website's Speakers page.
The Rotary Club of Kirkland Student of the Month program concluded this week with the April student of the month from Lake Washington High School. Maria Strathy met club members on April 11, and members quickly learned that Maria is a hardworking student whose favorite classes have been calculus and chemistry, and who enjoys running, music, reading, and spending time with her friends. Maria loves her school activities; she is an active member of DECA, having participated in four different competitive events during her junior year, including competing at state in the Team Financial Services role play event. She has served her school community as ASB treasurer since her junior year, and as cross-country team captain. After graduating, she hopes to attend Columbia University and major in chemical engineering or applied mathematics.
The 2022 Duck Dash will be held during Kirkland's Summerfest, which is July 29-31, 2022 this year. Rotarians will want to save the date, Sunday, July 31, 2022, for the Great Puget Sound Duck Dash around 2 p.m.
And Duck Dash preparations continue! Scott Becker is recruiting Kirkland businesses and club members for Duck Dash sponsorships. Rotarian Brett Johnson is hosting the annual Racing Duck Branding Party, which will be held this year on Monday, July 25, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Lee Johnson Auto Family campus. Club members are needed for assistance with coupon sponsors and prizes. Please contact Dave or Scott with your commitments or referrals of commitments. Rotarians can now register for the branding party by clicking HERE, and for the duck race by clicking HERE.
